Hello everyone. Welcome to tonight's chat with Tina Bockrath, Miss May 1990. We'll be starting in about 10 minutes.
moderator
Tonight's first question comes to you from our home office in Puxantawny...
Aaalooker
Hello Tina, Welcome to Cyber Chat. What qualities do you prefer in a man?
Tinabockrath
Hmmmmmmmm.......sense of humor is a must! must! must! Looks are always last. Someone who's down to earth. That's about it.
Dominique
Hi Tina! Do people often mispronounce your name? I always have the tendency to pronounce Brockrath.
Tinabockrath
laughs hysterically.
Tinabockrath
It's a common mistake. It's a pretty hard name. I thought of changing it but I figured if they could say Schwarzeneggar, they can say Bockrath.
David2
Good Evening Tina! You were one of a few Playmates who took part in both "Playmate Party Live" shows on Playboy TV. Since they each had a different format (slumber party vs formal interview) which one did you prefer?
Tinabockrath
Really, they were both a lot of fun. I'd like them to incorporate a little of both. The slumber party got some more laughs. But if they could come up with a happy medium they could have the perfect show.
Ricky9
Welcome to the chat and thank you so much for being a Playmate. In the portfolio a photo shows you in front of the mirror putting up your hair. A key is on your vest, was that a prop?
Tinabockrath
Good observation. The key was decoration, but I'm very impressed that you remember that.
Jae68
What have you been doing since you appeared in Playboy?
Tinabockrath
I did a show on the Playboy Channel for five years called "Newsfront." It was news show format, from that I got a lot of tape, which enabled me to get an agent. So I've doing primarily hosting work. I have a callback this week for an animal show called "Amazing Tails," and I'm waiting to hear back from the Game Show network.
Dominique
One of your movies is regularly being broadcast late night (the one where you play a co-owner of a massage studio), and I keep watching it because you’re in it and also for the happy ending. What are your favorite movies?
Tinabockrath
Favorite movies.....I'm an old movie buff. I love old movies. One that always pops into my head is "The Little Foxes" with Betty Davis.....and the "Wizard of Oz" is absolutely one of my favorites. I saw "Con-Air" today and it was awesome. A must see!
Redwing
Tina, have you taken your fantasy vacation to Egypt?
Tinabockrath
No, darn it. And I'm still dying to. Right after my issue came out there was some travel agency that offered me an all-expense paid trip to Egypt, but then Desert Storm broke out.
Jae68
How did you become a Playmate?
Tinabockrath
I was going to college in Austin and they were looking for "Girls of the Southwest Conference." David Chan told me he thought I was Playmate material. They flew me to Chicago for the 35th Anniversary Playmate Search. About a month later they said: "We have good news and bad news. You're not the 35th Anniversary Playmate, but you will be a Playmate." Yeaaaaaaaah!
Wil
What set you apart from the other "Girls of the Southwestern Conference" that you were invited to be a Playmate?
Tinabockrath
That's a tough one.....I have no idea, other than the fact that people tell me that I'm so All-American looking. I guess Playboy and All-American go together.
Rogerrabbit
How many movies have you appeared in?
Tinabockrath
Actually only two. I was in the "Coneheads." There were four Playmates. I also did a "Tales from the Crypt"...it was called "Abracadabra" with Tony Goldwin (from Ghost) and Bo Bridges. Then that movie that one of you guys saw.
Dominique
Your last NSS appearance dates early '96. Will we have to wait for a "Playmate Revisited" feature to see you again?
Tinabockrath
That's a good question. It seems the NSS have changed their format a bit. I'm not sure when you'll see me again.
Wil
Will you have any more items of clothing to auction off at Glamourcon?
Tinabockrath
I do have a couple of lingerie outfits that I've worn in the Newsstand Special. So maybe I'll go to the Glamourcon in L.A. I'm not sure, yet.
Aaalooker
Were you nervous at your first shoot? How did you feel, when it was over?
Tinabockrath
You're always nervous, cause you haven't posed nude before. But Pompeo Posar was wonderful. He was so great, made me feel totally comfortable. The people at Playboy were so great, before you know it, you're running around naked everywhere.
Aaalooker
Tina, could you describe to us how much different your life has been since you became a Playmate?
Tinabockrath
It wasn't all that different. I was married at the time; now I'm going through a divorce, so it's starting to get really different. Now I'm having a lot of fun. I'm dating and the hosting thing is taking off. It seems the older I get, things get better. I don't look so young anymore, so things are starting to take off.
Jae68
What did your family think of you posing?
Tinabockrath
My family was very cool with it. My Mom's biggest concern was whether the people were really from Playboy, but otherwise everyone was great. My grandparents even thought it was wonder. No negativity from my family. For the most part most of the girls families are really good about it.
Redwing
Tina, will you describe your most interesting date?
Tinabockrath
Wowwwwwwwww.......I've just started dating again for the first time in six-and-half years, so each one has been interesting. I just dated someone who was a big-time movie guy, so getting the inside scoop was fun.
Redwing
Tina, I know it's a little early but Happy Birthday!!!!!
Tinabockrath
Oh, thank you.
Redwing
Do you prefer guys with or without beards?
Tinabockrath
I just dated a guy with a beard and I was fine. It was great.....but with, without, it doesn't bother me as long as they're soft.
Jae68
Do you get recognized? Is it annoying to you?
Tinabockrath
On occasion I get recognized. I actually love it. If I never make it as famous as I'd like to be, at least I've experienced that. And I've never had a bad experience. When they stop recognizing me, then I think I'll be in trouble.
Wil
Did you want to be a Playmate back when you were a schoolgirl?
Tinabockrath
Yes, I did. When I was in Junior High, I'd read star magazines, they'd talk about celebs dating Playmates, Playmates in movies....I dreamt about it, but I had glasses and braces and thought: "never me."
Rogerrabbit
Do your dates all know you are a Playmate?
Tinabockrath
No. They don't. I tell them when they ask me. Being in L.A. men aren't that surprised by it, but I let them know up front in case they have a problem with it.
Striker
If you could choose one guy to date in the whole world, who would it be?
Tinabockrath
laughs hysterically.
Tinabockrath
One guy in the whole world...oh my gosh.....I cannot think of anyone off hand. As you become older, you become more disenchanted with the movie stars. If it were the 50's I would have said Marlon Brando, but today, maybe J.F.K. Jr. He seems sweet.
David2
This may seem like a dumb question, but when it comes to doing a Playboy video or movie, do all Playmates in them have to go through an audition or is it through invitation?
Tinabockrath
Invitation. They ask if you'd be interested and you can say "Yes" or "No."
Redwing
Tina, what is the best advice you were given?
Tinabockrath
It sounds so blase, but really: "Seize the moment", really works for me.....you can't worry about what other people think. You just have to do what makes you happy.
Rogerrabbit
Who are your pals? Do you hang out with other Playmates?
Tinabockrath
I don't hang out with Playmates. I have a part-time job in L.A. and I hang out with most of the girls I work with. It's a great sports club and we all have lots of fun.
Jae68
Are you into sports? Which ones?
Tinabockrath
I'm not really that much into watching sports on TV, but I love live basketball and football games. I'd have to say basketball is my favorite. I think I'll get to a Lakers game next year.
Katsass
What is your favorite breakfast, lunch, dinner?
Tinabockrath
Everyday breakfast is a bagel, always with cream cheese and jam. For lunch, it's some kind of salad and then I work out. Then it's a turkey sandwich and some kind of party snack mix for dinner. An occasional almond bar or junk for fun.
My Mom's in the background saying..."Occasional, right!"
moderator
Referring to a previous answer...
Wil
Since you wanted to be a Playmate then, did you read Playboy in Jr. High and High School? If so, who were your favorite Playmates?
Tinabockrath
I didn't get to read the magazine, but through reading celebrity magazines, I knew who Monique St. Pierre was...and Brandy Brandt. So I knew a few of the other girls. It was great when I first went to the Mansion and could say, "Aren't you so and so." You make friends really fast that way, cause the girls are so flattered.
Jae68
What were you like in high school?
Tinabockrath
Gosh.....I knew a lot of the kids in my high school, but I've always had a mind of my own. I never hung out with the "in" crowd cause they were kinda mean. So I guess I wasn't on the "A" list, but I knew lots of people.
Ricky9
Have you ever gone to a ballroom dance party? If so can you Samba, Mamba or Waltz?
Tinabockrath
The best thing I can do is Two-step. Other than that I'm not much of dancer. I just like to "bop" to the music.
Jae68
What type of music do you like?
Tinabockrath
I love Rock-n-Roll. I love the Wallflowers, Marilyn Manson. I was a huge Kiss fan and saw them during their recent tour.
Striker
I saw you in "Tales from the Crypt," you were very stunning!:) Will you be starring in any other shows?
Tinabockrath
I'm not currently auditioning for any acting roles. I'm hoping my hosting work will turn into acting jobs...kinda like Greg Kinnear.
Wil
What are your long-term ambitions?
Tinabockrath
I hope by the time I'm 40 to 50 to be financial set, into the hosting career, making $1 million, able to support my family. The career thing is my main goal....the love life stuff will hopefully all fall into place, too.
Jae68
You said that you were raised by a one parent family. Do you think this built character in you?
Tinabockrath
Oh, yeah. I had a mom with such character. I saw her work two or three jobs to support me and my sister. In the long term, it's made me incredibly self-sufficient. I'm so grateful for that. Me and my mom are so close.
Redwing
Tina, did you grow up in a small town or large?
Tinabockrath
Huber Heights...pretty small. Nothing to do but go to the mall.
Wil
What was the most interesting thing you learned from working on "The Playmate Book"?
Tinabockrath
That there is life after being a Playmate. There are a lot of girls doing great things. The book shows that the girls are definitely on-the-ball.
Aaalooker
Tina, if we were to go out on a date, would you prefer to go to the theater, or just a plain picnic in the park?
Tinabockrath
It depends on the date. A picnic in the park forces you to talk and get to know the person. There's not much talking on a theater date.
Redwing
Tina, do you get a lot of fan mail? Where can fans write to you?
Tinabockrath
Fans can reach me c/o Playmate Promotions. I do get lots of mail, particularly when I do a promotion like the "Howard Stern Show" or a Playboy TV program.
Rogerrabbit
Did you know anything about Playboy? For instance, did you know that Pompeo is legendary as a girl photographer?
Tinabockrath
No, I didn't. I did know and appreciate that they have staff photographers. It made me feel more comfortable...knowing that the photographers have been with the company forever.
Jae68
If you could only do one more thing in your life, what would it be?
Tinabockrath
Nothing like putting me on the spot....I think I'd want to go around the world.
Ricky9
When you date a tall man (6 feet) or over do you wear high heels?
Tinabockrath
I'm 5'9", so I never wear stilettos. Recently I dated a guy who was shorter than me and he seemed to have a problem with that. I don't have a problem with short men, though.
Wil
Was there anything about your Playmate feature that you didn't like?
Tinabockrath
Some of the pictures weren't that flattering.... like the ones in front of the makeup mirror. Now I wish I could reshoot everything, cause I think I look better now than I did then.
Aaalooker
Well so far, how do you like this chat "thing"?
Tinabockrath
I love it. It's fun. You guys are great with your questions....keep 'um coming.
Jae68
Do you have any pets?
Tinabockrath
I'm sitting here playing with my cat, Annabelle right now. I have a dog named Buster. They're my babies. Buster is a terrier mix. Looks like Benji--with an attitude.
Musubi
Any plans for more PB video appearances?
Tinabockrath
No, not the videos. I haven't done them in about six years. I'm a little older now, so it's just now where my interest lies. But myself and two other Playmates will be hosting a program called "Playmates of the Sixties" for the E! channel. I'm not sure when it will run, but we'll keep you posted.
Jae68
Are you chatting with us from home?
Tinabockrath
Yes.
Striker
Do you ever surf the net? If so, where do you usually go? (on the web and such)
Tinabockrath
I've done a chat on AOL. I'm not totally up to speed on this stuff, but hopefully within the next year I'll be an expert.
Aaalooker
Is your hair still waist length? It looks great on on your data sheet.
Tinabockrath
Thank you. But no, it's not. I've been through many hair traumas over the past few years. It's gone from really short to really long. Right now it's shoulder length. I have to keep it that way for my hosting work...it looks more professional.
Wil
Do you plan on becoming a Mom?
Tinabockrath
laughs hysterically.
Tinabockrath
Maybe if I meet the right guy. I never say never to anything. But right now it hasn't been one of my priorities.
Striker
What would be your greatest dream come true?
Tinabockrath
That would be to have my own show like Rosie O'Donnell and then to be in a blockbuster movie like "Batman."
David2
Have you looked around the Cyber Club (besides this chat room that is) and if so what do you think about it?
Tinabockrath
I have not had a chance to do that, but I hope to someday soon. I'm still trying to familiarize myself with this computer stuff.
Striker
Do you go to nite clubs and such?
Tinabockrath
Not really nightclubs. I prefer more like dinnerclubs. I like live music clubs like House of Blues. I'm not into pickup joints, it's not my idea of fun. L.A. is such a meat market.
Kent
I have met you a couple of times and think you have charisma! I hope you will be involved with the Cyber Club.
Tinabockrath
Thank you. Eventually I'll become much more computer literate....but I'm glad to be here.
moderator
Okay...there are only a few minutes left...time to get your best, last questions in!
Ricky9
An observation, the one in front of the make-up mirror gives us a glimpse of you, makes you more real!!
Tinabockrath
That's nice. An interesting perspective.
Rogerrabbit
Do you want to stay in news and the interview role or do more drama?
Tinabockrath
I'd like one to parlay into the other. That's the dream.
Wil
Did you enjoy meeting the Playmates of the 60's? Which ones?
Tinabockrath
I've met a few through Glamourcon. Gwen Wong is really, really nice. Nancy Harwood was great. Judy Tyler was nice, too. There are some really great girls from that decade. It's kinda like a sisterhood.
The Playmate of the Year luncheons are like our annual reunions. I hear they might do a big reunion for the year 2000.
Spear
What differences, if any, do you observe now between Playboy now versus seven years ago when you were a Playmate? (i.e Do they seem to be more focused internationally?)
Tinabockrath
Sure. Times have changed. They're using more Playmates with tattoos and belly rings. I remember they asked Carrie Westcott to remove hers a few years ago. So I guess they're getting more liberal and in tune with the times.
Striker
How was your prom night back in your high school days?
Tinabockrath
I never went to prom. No one asked me. I did graduate a year early...but I still never got asked.
Musubi
Will you be doing any promos in Denver?
Tinabockrath
That would be fun, but no immediate plans. You never know. I was in Denver four years ago for Playboy, so you never know when you'll get that phone call.
Dominique
Would you wear a belly ring?
Tinabockrath
No way, dude! It's not my personal taste, but my sister has one.
Jae68
Tina, you've been great! Thanks for chatting with us. Will you do it again?
Tinabockrath
I would love to. It's been so much fun. It's a great way to get to know the Playmates and it's fun for us to answer these questions.
Ricky9
Thank you for being with us tonight. As the saying goes, "You made this birthday better than all the rest." Keep a pair of heels handy at Glamourcon in L.A. in September for a photograph. Thank you.
Tinabockrath
Okay. No problem. That's so cute. You must be tall.
David2
Tina, it's been great chatting with you! I would really like to chat with you again, and hope you'll be able to visit the Cyber Club more often! Yours is definitely a presence that would brighten up any site!
Tinabockrath
smiles.
Tinabockrath
That's very sweet. I promise to get better at my computer to do more of this.
Tinabockrath
bows gracefully.
Tinabockrath
kisses.
Tinabockrath
smiles.

It's a wrap! Thanks for chatting with Tina. You can all gather in the E-Lobby for after-chat discussions!
