Okay People, Here We Go!
Aaalooker
Hello Jean, how are you tonight?
Jeancannon
Hi Aaalooker, I'm great!
Aaalooker
What effects has being a Playmate had on your life?
Jeancannon
Recently, none, but in the past it led me to meet important people. And it gave me the confidence to be more assertive. I thought higher of myself, because Hef had the confidence to pick me.
Wil
Your Playmate photos had an outdoors-style theme. Are you like that in real life?
Jeancannon
Definitely. I have a big flower garden, I'm an outdoors type of girl. I'm sitting right now in a room with more plants than furniture.
Redwing
Hi Jean! Thanks for joining us. Will you tell us what you are working on?
Jeancannon
Hi, thanks for having me.
I work in market research. I've always loved talking to people and now I get paid for it. Just last week I had to find out the reaction to strawberry soup; it didn't go over very well.
Jeancannon
smiles.
Redwing
Are you a hockey fan?
Jeancannon
I don't know puck about it.
Jeancannon
smiles.
Jae68
Do you like sports? Which ones?
Jeancannon
Definitely! I love football and NASCAR racing. I love Jeff Gordon and Ernie Erving. For football, I like Dan Marino. I am a 100% Dolphins fan.
Wil
How did you become a Playmate?
Jeancannon
I met Hef at an artist and model ball in L.A. and he asked me to give it a try. My husband said I would never make it, but I did. My ex-father in law was a writer and a photographer for Life and Time and was invited to the party. That's how I was there. His name is Bradley Smith.
Wil
You were married rather young. If you had it to do over again, would you have done that?
Jeancannon
No. I married the guy next door because I wanted to get away from home. But I got a beautiful daughter out of the relationship and I've never been happier.
Aaalooker
Can you remember where you were and what you were doing at the time you heard that you were chosen to be a Playmate? And how did it make you feel?
Jeancannon
I was in the bathtub and I went under and blew bubbles! I was very excited until they specified that I could not wear any underwear. I was a little hesitant to show my behind. In fact I was one of the first Playmates to show behind.
David2
What was the general opinion of Playboy when you appeared in it, and how did it differ from your own opinion?
Jeancannon
I don't know about the magazine itself, but the Club was very up and up and on the level. It was very professional. It helped a lot of girls go through college, etc. I was very behind the Clubs while some people thought they may be sort of shady.
Redwing
Had you seen an issue of Playboy before you posed?
Jeancannon
I think so. Because I didn't see any anyone showing bottoms, I thought it was OK.
Jae68
Would you encourage your daughter to pose, if she wanted to?
Jeancannon
Thirty years ago, yes, but now I think it's a little to explicit for my tastes. But I think that she's gorgeous and definitely capable of posing.
Redwing
Would you have posed for Playboy back then with todays standards?
Jeancannon
No. I was leery about showing my bottom back then, so I would definitely be worried about showing anything else.
Jae68
Do you think the changes in Playboy since 1961 were positive ones?
Jeancannon
I don't know. The literary sections, definitely. I think that it's a little too explicit for my tastes. But I think the artwork is great and the writers are wonderful. I am still behind Playboy 100%. It's a wonderful organization.
Wil
You never posed for the magazine again after becoming a Playmate. Why not?
Jeancannon
I think they assumed that because I was married, that it would damper my relationship. I was very outgoing. I would definitely have posed.
Ricky9
I just want to thank you for posing, you were the hit of the boys dorm in Verdun, France for many months. I wish I still had that issue.
Jeancannon
Merci, monsieur, Ricky9!
Wil
You had one of the most impressive figures among the Playmates. Is that a trait of the women in your family, or are you unique in that respect?
Jeancannon
I am very unique in that respect, seeing as I only had brothers!
Aaalooker
Did you receive any flack from your friends when you posed for Playboy?
Jeancannon
No, I didn't tell anybody. I didn't even tell my parents. They never knew. I didn't know what they would think.
Jae68
What were you like in high school?
Jeancannon
I was a class clown. Anything for attention. Which was why I did Playboy! I couldn't get through on my brain, so I thought I'd slide through on my looks!
Jeancannon
smirks.
Jae68
Did any of your friends find out you were in Playboy? Did they try to contact you?
Jeancannon
No, because I changed my name in the magazine so they didn't know who I was. I came from an all girls school in Boston, so nobody knew I was in it. The only people who knew, were my inlaws.
Redwing
What was the most interesting thing that happened to you while you were with Playboy?
Jeancannon
I met Robert Goulet and I had a slight fling with him. I met him in the club and we dated for about six months. My girlfriend who worked with me at the Playboy Club dated Norm Crosby. I met lots of famous people: Andy William, Lenny Bruce, George Carlin and many other famous people.
Alien
Are you considering posing for Playboy again as a “Playmate Revisited” feature?
Jeancannon
If I was I asked, I would do it.
Aaalooker
What were your thoughts when you were asked to do this chat session for the Cyber Club?
Jeancannon
I was very excited, happy, just another chance to talk; which is my forte. I wish I could talk to you all personally, I wish you could hear the enthusiasm in my voice!
Ricky9
How many other workers at the Playboy Club you worked at, went on to become Playmates?
Jeancannon
About 10 of them. Sally Mason, Jan Roberts, Mickey Winters, Patty Reynolds, Linda Gammel, Sally Duberson, Sandra Settani, Stella Sherwood, Donna Michelle, China Lee, and Astrid Schultz. That's about it. Oh, one more...Jo Collins.

Referring to the enthusiasm in your voice...
Ricky9
Please come to a Glamourcon so we can do just that!
Jeancannon
I would love to and I will look into attending. I will keep you posted! Watch the newsgroups for updates.
Wil
Did you move from club to club, or did you work in only one city?
Jeancannon
I worked in 5 clubs, Chicago, New Orleans, back to Chicago, Miami, New York and Jamaica. I enjoyed every minute of it. It was very exciting!
Wil
Do you still have friends from your Playboy days?
Jeancannon
No, but I would like to stay in touch. I want to get in touch with Playboy friends again.
Jae68
What were your favorite movies?
Jeancannon
Hmmm..."And Justice for All" is one of my favorites, "To Kill A Mockingbird," "12 Angry Men." I'm into court drama. Al Pacino and Robert DeNiro are my favorite actors.
Aaalooker
Jean, can you remember what might have been one of the funniest things that has happened to you in your lifetime, and would you share it with us please?
Jeancannon
You'll have to give a second here.
Jeancannon
When I was in Jamaica, I had a fake ponytail on and I went riding earlier on donkeys. My donkey went nuts and ran into a tree and my ponytail got caught in the tree. I was mortified with all the people around. I thought I was looking gorgeous and I actually looked very silly.
Aaalooker
Thanks very much for sharing that with us, it was funny.:):)
Jeancannon
I felt like a real jackass. Pun intended!
David2
Speaking of court drama...are there any recent real court dramas that have gotten your attention?
Jeancannon
I suppose the OJ Simpson case and the Oklahoma case (I'm glad he was found guilty). Also the Susan Smith case got my attention.
Ricky9
Would you tell us what your real first name is?
Jeancannon
My real first name is Jean, but my real last name is Hannna. Hard hearted Hanna.
Mrboo
Has anyone asked whether she prefers men with beards or clean shaven yet?
Redwing
Do you prefer guys with or without beards?
Jeancannon
Definitely with beards. I like womb broom.
Jeancannon
laughs hysterically.
Jeancannon
My boyfriend has a beard.
Wil
Did you receive a lot of fan mail when you were a Playmate? Did people recognize you in public?
Jeancannon
No, none.... I don't think they gave it to me. Maybe my husband threw it away. But I'm sure you guys can make up for that.
No. But I was wearing clothes, though. Maybe people did, but wouldn't admit it.
Mrboo
Will you be attending Lollapalooza this year?
Jeancannon
Definitely not. I'm not into rock music. I'm into classical music.
Jae68
What type of music did you like, and has your tastes changed?
Jeancannon
Oh definitely. I was into easy street Chicago guitars, Greenwich Village kind of stuff. Neil Diamond is, was, and will always be my favorite!!! I've loved him since "Hot August Night."
Aaalooker
Are you still raising poodles?
Jeancannon
Thank you for your attention. No, I've given up poodles for pussycats. Cats are easier to travel with. Throw them in a pillowcase and you can take them anywhere.
moderator
We've only 5 minutes left so lets get started on those last minute questions!
moderator
Back to tunes...
Wil
"The 1812 Overture," with cannons? Or Pacalbel's "Canon"? Who came up with your last name, anyway?
Jeancannon
I do everything with a bang!
Wil
When did you daughter learn you had been a Playmate?
Jeancannon
Whoops!
Jeancannon
She discovered my photo album and saw in the nude. She didn't tell me, but her friends told me. She found out when she was about 14. I decided to tell her when she was 18, and she told me "Mom, I've known for years."
Jae68
Did you ever regret trying to hide the fact that you had posed in Playboy from your family?
Jeancannon
No, because my father was 51 when I was born, so they were in a different generation and a different world. So, I'm glad that they never found out.
Mrboo
Do you enjoy food you have to cut with utensils, or food that is soft (like pudding)?
Jeancannon
I prefer soft, mushy food.
Jae68
Were you ever into the sixties life style?
Jeancannon
Not really. At night I was with Playboy and they were hip, but during the day, not really. I slept.
Jae68
It has been a pleasure chatting with you, Jean. Will you come back and do it again?
Jeancannon
Yes!!!! I would love to.
Aaalooker
Jean, thank you sooooooo much !! for attending , you have been delightful, best wishes, Aaalooker.
Wil
See you at Glamourcon, I hope!
Jeancannon
I hope so too.
David2
It's been great chatting with you Jean!
Jeancannon
